I absolutely love my work. Every day, I feel blessed to help individuals, couples and families build stronger relationships. It is a privilege that I take seriously and joyfully. My journey to becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist started in 2003 when I first began work with The Salvation Army in San Diego providing therapeutic treatment to adolescents, children and families who experienced trauma and substance abuse issues. In 2005, I was deployed to Louisiana with The Red Cross to provide aid to persons and families effected by Hurricane Katrina. It was this experience that solidified my desire to help individuals and families and inspired me to continue my education. I completed a master’s degree Marriage and Family Therapy in 2008.

Since then, I have received advanced training working with children (Trauma Focused-CBT) and couples (Emotionally Focused Therapy). Currently, I provide counseling and therapy as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern #65184 in a San Diego private practice setting and have completed approximately 1,000 client hours providing child play therapy, teen counseling, couples and marriage counseling, individual therapy and family therapy.

IMF_san_diego_mft_internWe are all stewards of the scars we bare. In other words, we all experience pain and we have all been healed of pain. If you manage your scars productively, you can share your comfort with others in order to comfort them. This truth gives me comfort as a counselor. I see that relationships are more than simple ways to distract ourselves or to experience pleasure. I see relationships as the vehicle for growth and security. So often it is difficult to see our pain as an opportunity, yet by way of a counselor and counselee relationship, these opportunities can be made visible. So the old adage is true! “The more pain, the more gain!”

Every person deserves a chance to experience joy and blessings especially within our relationships. Many times it is hard for us to see the obstacles that stand in our way that keep us stagnant and unable to see below the surface, even in the present moment. I am grateful to have the opportunity to teach and guide you to live intentionally; that is to assist you in creating situations, thinking productively and experiencing events on purpose. Imagine a world where the majority of your experiences appear meaningful, and do not seem to be accident or by chance. I am committed to serving you when you believe you are ready to truly experience emotional security.

I have studied and taught  ways to manage a variety of life challenges that include: Anger management and conflict, relationship concerns and couples counseling including pre-marital issues, addictions (adolescent and adult), depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation, domestic violence and abuse, and more.
